The beauty of photo editors is that you can completely transform a picture. From a dull shot, you can make a real masterpiece if you have the know-how. If you don't have the know-how, there are still various solutions you can go for. An excellent example is Watercolor Studio, which can transform a regular picture into a watercolor painting. The main advantage is the fact that the software does most of the work for you, so you can be finished with your work in just a few minutes.

Watercolor Studio is free to try, without any functionality restrictions. Its setup package is well over 400 MB, so it may take some time to download it to your computer, even with a good Internet connection. However, you can make up for lost time when going through the installation process, since it doesn't involve any complicated settings and it can be completed in under a minute.

Transforming an image into a painting is a simple operation. All you have to do is drop an image over the software's user interface and select one of the many presets on the lower edge of the window. Each effect can be previewed by simply hovering with the mouse cursor over it.

You may have seen such simple transformation operations in other similar programs, but it's worth noting that Watercolor Studio is a bit more complex. It doesn't just apply a preset and sends you on your way. The software takes its time to render the selected effect and it gives you a good degree of control when it comes to making adjustments.

Watercolor Studio shows you how an effect is achieved, in a transparent manner. The layers that have been applied over your image are displayed on the right side of the interface, where you can also find various controls, for making all sorts of fine tweaks, on individual layers. You can adjust numerous elements, like outlines, curves, edges and so on, just by dragging a series of sliders.

When you're satisfied with your picture's new look, you can save it normally, as an image file, but you can also share it with your friends on Facebook. Another useful feature is the possibility of saving your current settings as a new preset, which can be applied instantly in future projects.

A dull photo can be turned into a work of art in just a few seconds, thanks to Watercolor Studio's powerful functionality.

Pros

The software places a large number of presets at your disposal. It lets you make numerous adjustments, on individual layers. Your adjustments can be saved as a new preset.

Cons

You can't save your work while using the trial version.
